Responsibilities of an ASE Certified Automotive Master TechnicianMajor activities include: Assisting other technicians in performing technical and mechanical activities. Performing diagnostics, preparing estimates and completing repairs to specifications in a timely manner without short cuts on the following: Engine repairs, reseals, replacements and overhauls. Electronic transmission diagnostics, service, repairs, replacements and overhaul (Chrysler only). Advanced fuel control, delivery, engine management and ignition systems. Electronic (ABS) and hydraulic brake system service, repairs and replacement. Body electrical, electronics and passive restraints. Steering, suspension (including NVH) and alignment. Air conditioning service, repairs and automatic temperature control systems. Exhaust systems and catalytic converters. Research the vehicle they are working on for service bulletins and repair info. Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include other employees and/or customers on an as-required basis. Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology. Keeps store management aware of building and equipment mechanical repair problems as they occur. Consistently takes the extra steps needed for customer satisfaction by providing "service". Maintains a clean and organized work environment and has a neat appearance. Times are tough and jobs are scarce.
